I thought that everyone might want an update on the surgery from Friday.
I reported to outpatient surgery at 6am. Surgery wasn't scheduled until 8:30am. I got all the pre-op stuff done and then got to chill in the room while waiting for surgery time. I watched the news and Good Morning America for a little while. The anesthesiologist came in and told me what to expect and then at 8:15, they came and rolled me directly into the OR. They gave me the "happy" medicine, that was supposed to help me relax. Apparently it worked. I wasn't nervous to begin with, but I guess it did its job. Not five minutes later i must have been out. I remember them having me move from the bed over to the OR table. I remember laying down and the next thing I remember is waking up asking for Justin. THe nurse told me that I needed to calm down and that Justin would be able to come see me once I am moved back into outpatient surgery. I told them that Justin is able to calm me down. I was freaking out a bit I guess, because next thing I know, Justin is in there with me. I heard the nurse mention to him that I said he calms me down. I was pretty out of it, and pretty nauseous. I got lots of Zofran, I think two doses, and then I got some phenigran later. I was pretty drugged up for a while. I finally got to go home at about 3:45, once I was finally able to go to the bathroom and keep a little bit of something down.
As it turns out, there was an adhesion, but it was from 22 years ago when I had my appendix out and wasn't causing me pain. The culprit was my Mirena IUD. Apparently there is a very rare side effect that the IUD can perforate the uterus and lay to rest in the peritoneal cavity. Well, my little IUD perforated my uterus and embedded itself in the peritoneum. It had been out of my uterus long enough that spot where it went out of my uterus had already healed over. Apparently my body was still getting some hormones from it, just enough to keep me from getting pregnant. I am so not ready for that yet. All in all, we are lucky that it wasn't more than it was. It could have caused a lot more problems.
I had a great team of doctors that did a great job and took great care of me! I do have pictures...If anyone wants to see them, but I thought I would leave them off for those with weak stomachs...not that they are gross, but really, do you want to see my uterus? :)

The Goods and The Bads
Good:
1. We got to have a busy, but relaxing vacation this weekend in the Denton Area. regardless of how hectic it all was, it was still so relaxing, we had no expectations laid on us. No where to go, nothing to do except the wedding. It made for a lot of relaxation we don't usually get to enjoy!
2. We traveled safely!
3. Justin got the WHOLE weekend off!
4. Collin is done with baby food. He doesn't want it anymore...he just eats real food...sort of. He still only has 2 teeth, so he can only eat easy to eat stuff!
5. Jaicie got the Spelling award in Kindergarten.
6. Felicity only got a little bump and a bruise that was held off by Preparation H instead of something bigger and worse that could have made her miss the wedding.
7. American Idol finale is this week.
The Bad:
Felicity has a bump on her head.
Jaidi has to have surgery on Friday.
Justin has to work tomorrow night.
See the good still outweigh the bad!
Have a GREAT DAY!

Kindergarten Award Ceremony
Jaicie is almost done with her year of kindergarten. It is crazy to me that she has this week and1 day and 2 half days next week. This year has gone by so incredibly fast. Today the school had the Kindergarten awards ceremony. We came back late last night so that we could get Justin to work this morning and Jaicie to her awards ceremony.
Jaicie got the Achievement in Spelling award. I am so pleased with how well she has done this year. She has excelled at everything she has tried.
It hit me today that she is growing up to fast. Her teachers read a poem that talked about the kids being flowers in a garden. And while the kindergarten teachers are done with the flowers, they are passing them on to new gardeners to take over the feeding and nourishing. It was such a sweet poem and I want to find it. But it made me cry as I listened to it. I never thought it would be difficult for me to have her finishing kindergarten, but it really was difficult. I don't know if I am completely ready for 1st grade and everything that comes along with progressing through school. That means she really has to grow up!
To my dear sweet Jaicie, I love you and I am so pleased with you and Proud of you. You are growing up to be such a sweet little girl. Continue to love all you do.

Weddings and Flowers
We had the opportunity and privilege to attend Bridgette and Daniel Piatt's wedding this past weekend. It was a wonderful weekend. Here are some recaps and Pictures to follow!
Bridgette and her family are from the Dallas area, Daniel and his are from the Denton area. Or at least that is where they live now. Bridgette is the sister of one of Justin's classmates and one of my best friends and our kids favorite babysitter. We met Bridgette one weekend when she came to visit Jessica and she has been our good friend ever since. We were able to meet Bridgette's now husband at Thanksgiving last year when they were all in town. Anyway, on to the weekend.
On Friday afternoon, about 4, we loaded into the car and headed out of town. The wedding was taking place in a small town called Bolivar which is North of Denton and East of Sanger. It was at a house out in the country and it was amazing! Here is the view from their back yard:
Amazing isn't it?!? Anyway, we drove the 5 1/2 hour trip in about 6 1/2 hours (kids and potty breaks and meal stops). We arrived to the Piatt's home at about 11:00pm. We were fortunate enough to be able to stay at the home of the Piatt's for the weekend. I cannot tell you enough how wonderful they were to us. We arrived at this magnificant house, which I forgot to get a picture of the front, but here is one of the back:
It is an amazing house. I still can't get over it. It is set on about 5 acres I think. Overlooking a beautiful little lake and fields of Green. They have beautiful wild flowers surrounding the properties. I can't get over how beautiful the house was, but alas, I have so much more to share!
On Saturday, the girls had a rehearsal for the wedding on Sunday. Our girls were the little flower girls and they did such a great job. Anyway, we ended up hanging out with them and helping them get things ready for the wedding. We had a blast all day and got a lot done.
On Sunday we got up got things started that needed to be done. Felicity fell and bumped her head on the tile floor. And got a really bad bloody nose and a huge bump and bruise on her forehead. Luckily, Student Doc Justin was able to save the day (and the pictures). He used his vast knowledge of all things medical and put some Preparation H on Felicity's bump and stopped most of the bruising. It was a miracle...okay, not really, but it was a good save. Luckily Daniel is a brilliant editor and can fix all of the bruises in the pictures...I hope.
When all was said and done, the wedding was gorgeous, the girls did perfectly and Felicity fell asleep. It ended up that Jaicie had to walk out with the wedding party all by herself because Felicity was asleep on Justin's lap and no amount of shaking (softly of course) would wake her up. It was sweet and she was pooped!
All in all, it went well and despite bumps and bruises along the way, Bridgette and Daniel were happily married in a beautiful ceremony and everything went off with little to no hitches. I am so glad that we were able to be a part of it.
So here are my Note to people:
Bridgette and Daniel: Thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your wedding. We were all so grateful and so blessed to be a part of it. I wish you both the best in your lives together.
Tim and Linda Piatt: I cannot thank you enough for your hospitality this weekend. We were so fortunate to get to meet you and spend such a wonderful occasion with you. We appreciate your allowing us to stay with you. Medical School budgets are slim and you saved us a lot. So thank you! You have a gorgeous home and yard. You have a beautiful family and from what we saw of them, a very good bunch of boys. They were so kind to us and we appreciate them as well. Thank you all for your help with the kids and for loving them so much in such a short time. We look forward to seeing you again sometime soon.
Of course, there are others, but I should stop there, this post is too long already!

Jaicie's favorite past time:
| From Play Time |
Jaicie loves, loves, loves reading. I cannot, (and don't want to) get her to stop. In the past 2 weeks, she had read about 15 new books. she loves the Junie B Jones books. While they aren't my favorite to listen too, She really enjoys them. The writing of the books is interesting, in that the girl talks at her age, and the entire book is written like a 5 or 6 year old talks. It kind of gets annoying. I find myself correcting Jaicie as she reads outloud, which is how she always reads. But Jaicie loves them, loves the stories and hey, she likes books, I don't want to ruin that already. I have been trying to encourage her to read other books, like Ramona Books. I like those ones!

And for those who want to see the rest...Here is the album:
Bella in the Pocket
| From 2009_05_09 |
We weer playing with Bella the Rat one day and Justin stuck her in his pocket! It was so cute that I had to snap a picture!
See, she is too cute!
Mac and Cheese
Collin got to enjoy his very first meal of Mac and Cheese. It is the gerber bite size mac and cheese, so it was nice and easy. And he loved it! So here are some pics for your enjoyment!
