Jaicie's Kindergarten Picture

Jaicie got her picture taken at school last week. Yes last week and the picture is already back. We curled her hair with sponge curlers, but it didn't really hold much curl. But it still looks really cute. I can't believe my little girl is already taking school pictures! :) She is growing up so fast!

BY the way, I added the Jaicie 2008 on the picture! I didn't want to pay the extra money for it!  :)

Just thought this was sweet!

And of course, in memory of my mom!

Dear God, I pray for the cure of cancer.  Amen

In memory of anyone you know that has been struck down by cancer or is still living with it.

Catch-Up

Well..After a busy week things are getting back to normal. We enjoyed a wonderful visit with Justin's parents all last week and then Friday joined them in Alpine Texas for a wonderful visit, and Jared's Baptism. It was a great time with family that we don't often get to enjoy!  AS an update, poor little Abby seems to be coping well with her broken arm. They brought her up on Friday to see the Pediatric Orthopaedist and he casted her and determined she did not need surgery. YAY!

Aside from that, things have been fairly the same.  But i did get the greatest email yesterday...I have to preface this with the fact that it wasn't actually the content of the email, but the subject line. I will explain more later...
_______________
Subject: Candy Warning - Confirmed by Snopes
Wishing you a happy (and safe!) Halloween...

There is a new warning put out by the Canadian Food Inspection
Agency....

Sherwood brand Pirate's Gold Milk Chocolate coins are being recalled due
to the fact that they contain Mel amine, the ingredient in milk product
that has caused many infant deaths in china.
These candies are sold at
Costco, as well as many bulk and dollar stores.
please make sure to
check your children's Halloween candy and DO NOT LET THEM EAT THE PIRATE
COINS (you know the ones wrapped in the shiny gold foil) and please let
other parents know about this!

Okay, so that is the end of the email...And yes it is great info to know...but really the reason that I thought it was the greatest email...They checked Snopes before they forwarded it to me!  I have this pet peeve about forwards. It seems that people have this thing about pity forwards. "Oh this child is sick and every time we forward this email the system is going to give them$1. So have a heart and forward it so that they can get money to pay for all the millions of medical costs" or some other various life threatening forward. So they forward these emails, and then the people they forward them too forward them and then I get 20 copies of the same email...All of which are completely inaccurate, because no one bothered to check Snopes or some other true facts site to verify that what they are sending on is really true. So...As a courtesy to those you are forwarding too...think about checking accuracy before forwarding emails!

Anyway, that was my little rant...Sorry for that. Anyway, things really are good. After suffering from literally, the worst sore throat of my life last week, my throat is finally about back to normal. And I get to buy movie tickets for Twilight.

Speaking of Twilight...We here in Lubbock need to figure out how we are all going to the movie without our kids, when we are all going and no one will be available to babysit...Or maybe that is just me since Justin is going to be going with me...Is this only my problem? Do others have access to babysitters that I am missing?

Anyway, have a great day!

What a weekend!

So Friday was my birthday. And because of Collin's blessing this weekend and our nephew Jared's baptism next weekend, we had some family in town. Paul and Maureen (Justin's parents) came up from Vegas for the 2 events, arriving at the house about 4:30. Paul and Karry arrived about 6:30 and we decided to go to dinner. We were going to try to make it to Chili's but the wait was already an hour and they wouldn't put us on the list. So we called TGI Fridays and got put ont he list for 7:00. At 6:50 we prepared to leave the hotel where everyone was staying. We left Paul and Maureens room and walked over to Paul and Karry's room. As we are walking down the stairs and out of the courtyard, Abby, Paul and Karry's 5 year old daughter fell down the last 2 steps on the stairs. When landing she put her hands forward, unfortunately, she hit that one wrong spot on her hand and (very visibly and obviously) broke both bones in her arm and one of the was broken twice. So Paul and Karry and justin Loaded Abby in their car, and headed off to the hospital. In my car were Maureen and I and 4 kids. Felicity rode with Justin's dad. We arrived at the hospital and dropped off Maureen, picked up Felicity and the 5 kids and I headed back to my house where we had pizza and breadsticks care of the Little Ceasars Drive through Window. Thankfully our good friends Jessica and Ryan came over to help save me from insanity with 5 children ages 4 1/2 months to age 8 (on Tuesday). It was an adventurous evening to say the least, and one of course we do not ever want to repeat. Abby is doing remarkably well considering the fact that she broke her arm 2 days ago. Paul and Karry took their 3 kids and headed back to Alpine TX this afternoon. On Wednesday they have to return to have more x-rays done and have her arm casted. Right now it is in a splint while the swelling goes down. But yes, she is doing as well as can be expected given the circumstances.
Saturday was much less eventful. Since we didn't get a chance to celebrate my birthday at all on Friday, we decided that I was going to have a second birthday Saturday. We jsut ignored the fact that Friday was really my birthday and went with it. We went and did soem shopping at the mall and enjoyed hotdogs and Custard at Sheridans. And at 2:00 I left Justin and the kids at home while I headed to the airport to pick up the last of our weekend guests. My dad and my Grandfather (visiting in Vegas from Hawaii) were able to come for a short visit for Collin's Blessing. As I waited at the airport, I became more aware of the fact that my mom was not coming. I always knew she wasn't coming, but it hit me really hard right before Dad and Grandpa arrived. I was crying when they came through the door. It was so wonderful to see them. Friday night we went and enjoyed a wodnerful dinner at Texas Roadhouse!  It was a blast. Justin even sat on the saddle for me when they came to say happy birthday. I was so glad that I was stuck back in the corner of the booth and couldn't possibly get out!  :)
Sunday morning we all met at church and were blessed with an absolutely amazing blessing for Collin. Justin gave a remarkable blessing which was beautiful. After church we enjoyed some awesome Kalua Pork and Rice and Veggies and Fruit and Macaroni Salad. As they day started to draw to a close, we had to say good bye to friends and family and shed a few tears. I am so grateful to everyone who came. I will never forget the fact that my dad and grandpa came to spend the day with me. Unfortunately, it ended up being about 28 hours. But it was sure an amazing time with both of them. I had not seen Grandpa Pierce for 3 1/2 years and am not sure that I will ever see him again, and I am so grateful that he and my dad gave me the opportunity to see them while he was visiting Vegas!  So thanks dad!

And to Paul and Karry...I am so sorry that Abby broke her arm up here this weekend. I know that it was not my fault but sorry nonetheless! At least you didn't have to life flight up here from Alpine!

The weekend was wodnerful, and we did not get nearly enough pictures. But the ones that we did take can be seen at the following sites.

Birthday Cake and Blessings!

So, I am making my birthday cake for tonight...Yes, I am making my own cake, but Justin works all day, Jaicie is in school and Felicity is just not interested...oh and the girls can't do it on their own. But regardless, I am making my birthday cake. I decided that I LOVE the Crisco bars. I don't know what else to call them or how long they have been out. But they are by far the best way to use crisco. No more measuring cups, measuring spoons, no way, I am cutting it with a knife and calling it a day! I had never used it before, but it is so much cleaner and easier and yeah, I am a big fan. So, if you are out buying crisco any time soon, you should definitely buy this instead of the big can.

Aside from birthday cakes, we have a lot going on this weekend. We are finally getting the chance to bless Collin this weekend. Justin's parents and his oldest brother and family are coming into town tonight. My dad and Grandpa come in tomorrow night.  We have a few friends coming to the blessing and we are really excited about it. We bought him the cutest little blessing suit and I will post a bunch of pictures on Monday. (or maybe Sunday, depending how on the ball we are!) Collin is 4 1/2 months old and is growing unbelieveable fast. He is still our litle chunky monkey, and we sure love him!

Report Cards

I just wanted to write a quick note specifically to Jaicie.

She got her first report card yesterday.  She did so well and I just want to say how proud I am of her. She got excellent remarks from her teacher and was able to do everything that she is supposed to be doing. They do report cardsin kindergarten a little different than they did when I was growing up. They grade on a scale of 3. S is satisfactroy something or other. It means that the skill is mastered I think is what it was. E is that the skills are emerging. And N (or maybe M) means that the skills have not been learned. Jaicie got all S's on the whole list. And check marks all the way down the list of items she has been working on, letters, numbers, colors, shapes, etc. I am so proud of her and wanted to make sure she knows that. I Just hope that I tell her often enough how well she is doing and that she continues to think School is amazing.

Anyway, Congratulations to Jaicie and good job on your work in Kindergarten!

OOHhhhh! That was awesome!

Recipe Organizer

I recently began using this software for organizing my recipes. It is great!  It allows me to create my own recipe book that has all of my own recipes in it, plus it comes with its own book of recipes!  It is great! You should take a look at the product!  Use the following link:

Cook'N Recipe Organizer It is a really nice way to organize all the recipes you have and cut out some of the notebooks that everything is stored in! You can create shoping lists, and menu plans and everything!  Check it out!
